Text: "Web 101 Making the 'Net Work for You" (second edition)
by Wendy Lehnert. Also a book of your choice on HTML.
Course Topics (roughly in order they are introduced):
- Introduction to HTML
- Basic HTML tags: links, images, tables, lists.
- Advanced HTML: forms, stylesheets.
- Advanced HTML: CGI, Scripts, Applets.
- Internet bascis - structure of the internet
- Internet communication, email, transactions.
- Internet security: viruses, worms, Trojan Horses.
- Internet security: hoaxes and scams.
Grading Policies:
- There are 500 points available in the course.
- A: 450 - 500 points.
- B: 400 - 449 points.
- C: 350 - 399 points.
- D: 300 - 349 points.
- F: Below 300 points.
- Points are available as follows:
- Test 1: 100 points.
- Test 2: 100 points.
- Final Exam: 150 points.
- Assignments: 70 points.
- Course Project: 80 points
Test Policies:
- All tests are in class, open book, open notes, and multiple choice.
- Make-up tests are possible if tests are missed, but format and content
may vary from in-class tests.
- The final is comprehensive.
- Make up tests will not be given for the final exam.
