When do I salute?
The do's and don'ts
The Do's

Whenever a superior Officer first comes into your presence and you are in uniform

At PT when you first see the cadet wearing a reflective belt. They are superior Officers
and the PT outfit is considered a uniform.

When saluting, you must say "Fighting Knights sir/mam."

Always salute superior Officers even if they are in a different branch of the Military
or Officers in a foreign Military (if you recognize that they are an Officer).

When walking toward the Nations Colors (an American Flag). Start the
salute 6 paces before and hold the salute until you reach 6 paces past the
Colors.

The raising of the Colors in the morning, and also when the Colors are taken
down at the end of the day. If you are not in uniform, simply place your
right hand over your heart (if you are wearing a hat, place it in your right
hand over your heart).
The Don'ts
- Never salute in doors unless you are reporting for duty.

Do not expect a return salute if the Officer has their hands full or
does not see your salute.

Do not salute in the Cadet Lounge or in the ROTC Building or deck area.

You are not required to salute the Air Force cadets, but it makes for better
relations. However, you must salute the Air Force
Cadre Officers because they are active duty Military.
